Cloudy day with lots of wind, and the rain is supposed to come overnight and into tomorrow. Because of the wind it "rained" leaves all day and the cats were going nuts this evening watching them sail past the windows. I have hickory and oak trees in my yard, and with the nuts falling, going outside is a bit dicey....acorns don't hurt much when they land on top of your head, but hickory nuts are another story.

Uncle Otis has been a little calmer the last few days, so Aunt Elma is in better spirits. We realize that he can't really get "better," and are thankful that he doesn't seem to suffer physically, but it's heart breaking when he gets in one of his confused and agitated states. Until his accident in March he was an active person who was out doing for others, and now there are days when he's not sure who we are. When I stayed with them the other night kept calling me by my cousin's name, and when I told him "I'm not Ruthie," he said , "Well I know that," as if I was the one who was confused. Sometimes you just have to laugh to keep from crying.

Since the next few days are supposed to be cold and rainy I intend to pursue indoor activities. There are lots of things that need doing around the house, but it remains to be seen whether I will do them or whether I will curl up with the cats and read!
