Yea, they are having to replace it. The inside thing (sorry I don't know the real name of it) the motor locked up and it's so old, they don't carry parts for it. The guy said he could replace it and convert it to adapt to the old compressor (outside part) but he couldn't guarentee it would hold up. He explained how old and new parts don't always work well together. I heard Russ talk about it enough times that I know how it works on cars and it sounds like with air conditioner parts too. So, for $1500 more, he could replace both the inside and outside. So, that's what we're getting all new system. He said it should lower our electric bills too because the old was not efficient enough and didn't have certain things the new units have. So, I'm hoping it's a good thing. Russ's favorite saying applied to what the guy told me. he always says you can pay me now or pay me a lot more later on. In the end if we needed more repairs, it would end up costing a whole lot more Plus, the plumbers told us when they replaced the part of the water line that it may break someplace else too and sure enough an hour later water was shooting up from the yard in a different place. So, we're doing it right this time. We don't want any more surprises. I sure have a mess on the floor to clean up. Once it's cooling the house down, I'll be sweeping and mopping. The floors are really sticky form humidity too and the footprints from the guy's shoes aren't very pretty either.
