Mind you I'm not a vet, but I would think that as long as it appears to be healing nicely with no redness or oozing, that after a week she should be OK.

When I worked at the shelter we did not routinely put e-collars on the animals after surgery. We would watch them when they first came back from the vet, and as long as they didn't mess with the incisions we left the collars off. Only occasionally did we have animals who were compulsively licking and chewing at the incision. You can't blame them for wanting to lick the wound because it is natural behavior for them....I think it is all right to let her lick it when she cleans herself as long as she isn't biting at it.

When it comes to surgical adhesive, less is more, and the clinic here in town put too much on, leaving a hard clump of dried glue that the cats naturally tried to pull off. If they use the proper amount there will only be a thin line of adhesive that the cats can't get hold of.
