Chicken pies are the number one fund raiser for many churches in this area, and we'll make them at least once a month through April. We have four commercial freezers at the church and try to keep them filled with pies. The Moravian denomination is very common around here (the Moravians were the original settlers of the area in the 1700s) but other churches make them as well. The Moravian Ministry for Older Adults is sponsoring a chicken pie contest later this month and we're planning to enter.....every group thinks their pies are best, of course! The basic recipe is the same, but each church has its own variation, so it will be interesting to see who wins.

If Russ' mom only eats steak when she comes over she may not be too tired of it. She's probably glad to be included no matter what you feed her......sometimes it's not what you eat, but who you're eating with.

Tonight is supposed to be the coldest of the year so far....down into the 30s. The cats will be sure to pile on the bed tonight. Last night I was surrounded by five of them and had trouble extending my legs to the foot of the bed because of little furry bodies!
